Imam Muhammad Al-Baqir(Pbuh)

Imam Muhammad Al-Baqir is the fifth Imam for Shiite Muslims. He was born on 1Rajab57 AH (≈10May 677) in the holy city of Medina. His father is Imam Ali ben Al-Hussein (Zain Al-Abideen) and his mother is Fatima, the daughter of Imam Al-Hasan ben Ali (Al-Mujtaba). His teknonymic (Kunya)is AboJ‘afar and his title is Al-Baqir(the one who splits open knowledge).

Imam Muhammad Al-Baqir witnessed the tragedy of Karbala and he was a child at that time (nearly 4-year-old). Similar to his father regarding the amelioration of self-personality and playing a positive role in the community, Imam Muhammad Al-Baqir followed the path of piety and worked to propagate knowledge, morale and wisdom to establish an Islamic society intertwines between virtue and science. As a result of his reputation in the then Muslim world, Imam Muhammad Al-Baqirenticed hundreds of Muslims who attended his classes in order to grasp knowledge.

Imam Muhammad Al-Baqir passed away on 7Zulhijjah114 AH (≈28January733) and he was buried in the city of Medina at Al-Baqi‘ cemetery alongside the grave of his father Imam Ali ben Al-Hussein (Zain Al-Abideen).
